The Inception of an Interactive Sculpture

I began by listing the materials, technology, tools, concepts/ideas/themes, influence/inspiration, site/location/platform, and audience I had used of wanted to use in the past. The most important part for me was the  concepts/ideas/ themes section for because it challenged me to think about what I am passionate about in relation to the other categories. I then isolated myself in the classroom and played music and began using my list to combine an idea. The concept of emotion and my desire to create an interactive sculpture helped build my mind map. I started listing the materials and tools that I knew I would probably use based on my past works.  I did have a challenging time figuring out how I wanted to include data visualization and decided to isolate it in my mind map. Assignments that Maximizes Creativity (Post 2)

How do you frame an assignment to maximize creativity? Why are assignments given? Is it for practice, busy work, fulfilling a quota or requirement, or an opportunity for the student to expand their understanding of something and to share personal understanding? How can we give assignments that challenge the student to expand their understand of the topic and how their personal experiences relate to the topic of discussion?  Assignments should be designed with the 10 rules by Sister Corita Kent in mind, the pursuit of the personal conquest of understanding something.  Assignments should push the limits of how a student defines and understands the topic of discussion, in relation to the self and others. Maximizing Creativity (Post 1)

What rules should we establish  to maximize creativity? Before answering this question I wanted to go back to the definitions (dictionary and psychology) of creativity : Dictionary: ( noun) the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work. synonyms: inventiveness, imagination, innovation, innovativeness, originality, individuality Psychology: Creativity  is  defined  as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others ( Franken, Human Motivation 3rd Ed.) Answer: We should establish rules that are flexible, for the individual to allow themselves to generate as many possible solutions  to the problem, or interest at hand.
